On this page I will show you how to Attach a Printer.

It's Not hard to do at all!!!
Here is a picture of a Printer I will show you how Attach to your Computer.

This one is mine. It's a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 895 Cse.
I have had it for a while and it has never giving me any problems.
Knocking on wood. hehehehe
Here is a picture of the Back of the Printer.
Notice that is have (2) Different Plugs on it Circled in red.

The top one is the USB Port and the one just Below it is called the Parallel Port.

Also to the right of the Ports is the Power Circled in Blue.

Yep that's where you plug it in to the Wall outlet.
The first thing you need to do is make sure that you have cables for it.

Sometimes they are not included.

That bites when you are 50 miles from the store.

Some Printers will have only (1) Cable hook-up, But a lot of them will have (2) different hook-ups to choose from.

The top Cables in the picture is called a "Parallel Port" Cable or also Called an IEEE-1284 and the bottom Cable is called a "USB" cable.
Here is a closer view of the "parallel Port" Cables. The one on the left goes to your Printer and the One on the Right goes to your Parallel Port on the Back of your Computer.
The cables on the right are called "USB" Cables. The one of the left attaches to the back of your Computer.
The one on the right attaches to your Printer.
All you have to do is if it is A Parallel Port is Make sure the Computer is turned off.
Attach the Cable to the Back of the Printer and the other end to the Parallel Port Plug on the Back of your Computer.

As shown in the picture on the right.
Turn on both the Printer and your Computer.
When the New Hardware Found box appears close it by clicking on cancel.
Put your CD in the CDROM and let it start up and just follow the directions.
After you install the Driver for the Printer you Must Restart The Computer for your printer to work properly.

If you are going to connect your printer to a USB cable it will connected with the large end on the back of your Computer and the Small end on the back of your Printer.

As shown in the picture on the right.
Make sure your Computer is turned off and the USB Cables are NOT connected to the back of the Computer.
Now turn on the Computer and wait for Windows to start.
Then you plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Printer. Then you Plug the other end into the USB Port on the Computer.
After a few seconds the ADD New Hardware Wizard screen will appear. Click NEXT.
The next screen will be Search for the best driver for your device. Click NEXT.
Select Specify a location and click the Browse button, Do NOT click next.
Put your CD or Disk that came with your Printer into the Drive and then look for the USB folder on the Disk Drive.
Click NEXT and it will install the Driver on your Computer.
Restart the Computer and follow the instructions on the screen.
